Born in the heart of Chicago, giordano's has been crafting the city's most beloved deep dish pizza since 1974 — a recipe rooted in Italian tradition and perfected over generations.

The Giordanos story began when the Boglio family emigrated from Torino, Italy, bringing with them a cherished family recipe for pizza rustica. Efren and Joseph Boglio transformed that Italian Easter pie tradition into what the world now knows as Chicago stuffed pizza, opening their first restaurant on the North Side of Chicago.

Today, giordanos continues to honor that same original recipe — layers of fresh mozzarella, premium toppings, and our signature chunky tomato sauce, all encased in a flaky, buttery crust. Every pizza we make is a tribute to the Boglio family's passion and the vibrant spirit of Chicago.

1974

The First Store Opens

Efren and Joseph Boglio open the very first Giordanos location on Chicago's North Side, introducing Chicago's stuffed deep dish pizza to the world, inspired by their mother's Italian pizza rustica recipe.

1980

Chicago Icon Status

Giordanos pizza earns city-wide acclaim and is regularly voted the best deep dish pizza in Chicago. The line at the door becomes a familiar sight as Chicagoans and tourists alike flock to taste the legend.

1992

Expansion Across Illinois

Following enormous demand, giordanos expands beyond Chicago with new locations throughout suburban Illinois, bringing authentic deep dish pizza closer to families across the state.

2005

National Shipping Launched

2015

Franchise Programme Launched
